Alrighty now, it's December 1st and it's time to kick off the holidays! This week I'm going to share some of my favorite Vintage Holiday Gift Wrapping Ideas. These are packages I put together for the Parisian Soiree and I thought I'd share them with those of you who didn't have the chance to attend.
Today we're going to talk about a couple of favorite things for many of you, vintage corsages, millinery, wallpaper and mercury glass. So let's dig out our stash and raid our grandmas attic!
One thing I keep an eye out for all year long are holiday picks and corsages. The colors are fantastic and their tattered ribbons only make them more charming. You can pair them with new ribbon or tulle to add a modern touch to your presentation.
I just love the bright colors on this vintage spray. I think it would be perfect for a teenagers gift. The white wrapping paper on the package is vintage embossed wallpaper and it works well for gifts all through the year. You can also purchase new rolls at most hardware stores for about $12.
Old millinery flowers picked up at flea markets and antique shops are the perfect topper for just about any present! Add a tiny bit of gold ric rac to add some holiday sparkle.
This vintage corsage looks like it might have been used for a holiday wedding. The netting and the petite beaded flowers are so feminine. To make the tag I photocopied an antique postcard and attached it with a quick run through the sewing machine.
Although this blue millinery flower with it's velvet leaves looks vintage it's actually new. But pair it with a gift wrapped in vintage flocked wallpaper and it has the timeless appeal of an antique.
Which leads me to my favorite way to wrap a gift...vintage wallpaper. It's time to break out your good stuff ladies, no holding back. It is the holidays after all and along with using your good china it's time to use your favorite papers too. The trick to wrapping with vintage wallpaper is to use your glue gun. Tape just won't do it. And the best part about using the glue gun is they look so polished without the tape showing.
I hope you enjoyed Part One of my Vintage Holiday Gift Wrapping Ideas. I'd love to hear what you think. And stay tuned, there is so much more to share.
