Ladies Who Lunch

Str3 The month of May in our family is like 31 days of parties and celebrations. Sweet Girls birthday fell on Mothers Day this year which made the day special for both of us. She also had prom and SAT testing on the same day this month. Next we have my sisters birthday and my nieces birthday along with a belated birthday for my nephew. So I suppose you can guess what I've been doing lately, gift wrapping and going to the bank. A lot.

To treat my Mom and Sis to an extra special lunch date I took them to the St. Regis Monarch Bay Resort for a delicious lunch on the patio. The views are spectacular to say the least!

Str1 The weather was gorgeous with a cool ocean breeze and the smell of salt water in the air. It was like taking a mini vacation in the middle of a hectic month.

Str2 It was so hard deciding on what to have for lunch because everything on the menu sounded so delish. My mom decided to try the Lobster Club Sandwich. Yum!

Str4 And for dessert my sister ordered their signature St. Regis Warm Chocolate Cake complete with edible gold leaf logo.

Str5 Pretty fun day if I do say so myself. The only thing we thought might make it better was to book an appointment at Spa Gaucin. Perhaps next time, today we had to get back home to pick up kids from school. Ahhh, reality.

Farm Chicks Bound

Logofarmchicks June is fast approaching and things have been very busy around here getting ready to head to the Farm Chicks Show. A few years ago my Mom and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to fly up and shop the show. It was full of farm fresh style and homemade goods and we had a blast!

This year Present Past Collection will be packing up and heading on a road trip to be a vendor at this years event which will be held at the Spokane County Fairgrounds on June 7 & 8th. It promises to be a fantastic weekend filled with an appearance of the Country Living editors, book signings and wares from a fabulous list of vendors. I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you!

True To You

Zblog1 The thought "true to you" keeps coming up in my mind lately. I've been wanting to make quite a few changes around our home and feel that at this point in my life I will finally decorate for myself. Not in a selfish way, as in not caring what The Man might like but in a way that feels comfortable and livable to me. Being a designer for so many years, I've come across many different styles and sometimes my own sense of style has been easily swayed. It can leave one feeling very frustrated that your home is never quite right for you. But not anymore.

Zblog2 I've been slowly getting rid of furniture, drapes, wallpaper and paint colors and replacing them with timeless colors that I love. It's actually a very serene process, not hurried at all but more of a thoughtful gathering of cherished items. We bought this home knowing that we would not be staying in it for a lifetime and I believe it strongly influenced my design of the interior. But I've come to the decision that I can take it with me. At least to the next home anyway.

Zblog3 I'm learning to collect what appeals to me, what draws me in and causes me to admire it over and over. Simple things displayed in a beautiful way. I hope this inspires you to listen to your inner voice and let it flow over into how you make your house a home. I'll be sharing more of my own journey with you as I learn to listen to mine.

My backyard garden is bursting with blooms. I have a sea of rose petals floating all over my back patio. They are coming from the 4 climbers I have growing on the brick columns and onto the patio cover.

Zblog4

Zblog5 See the petals all over the grass as well? The smells are so intoxicating. I'll try to walk around the garden in the next few days to take some more photos of all the roses. And write down the names for you too!
