Romantic Inspirations and Random Facts...
Romance is in the air. Whether we share it with our sweethearts, children, pets or friends it will surely be marked with sweets, flowers, jewelry and gifts. Who can resist such lovelies? Earlier in the year I picked up quite a few Valentine treasures and for the life of me can't find a single one! This weekend will be spent doing a search and rescue for them. Why do I buy things so early? Why do retailers set out Valentines before our Christmas is boxed up and put away? Hey....that's where they could be! In any event, if you are in need of a little Romantic Inspiration you can visit some of my Flickr Favorites for Valentine's Day.
I was tagged by Shelley to list 7 Random Facts about myself. This was sooo hard to do. I even had to ask my Mom and Sister and still....it was hard to come up with 7. So please bear with me if they are not very exciting.
1. Tivo has changed my life. I don't watch very much TV to begin with and now being able to fast forward through commercials and pause live TV makes it so much more enjoyable. For instance, I had 3 Martha shows recorded and whizzed through them in no time. Love that!
2. Thanks to my Sister, I can now order my favorite drink at Starbucks without sounding like a complete dork. Tall Double Skinny Vanilla Latte please? Translated for you non-coffee drinkers: Tall (size small) Double (2 shots of espresso) Skinny (non-fat milk) Vanilla (sugar-free) Latte (the actually drink) I won't bore you with how I used to order them, pathetic.
3. The SUV I recently purchased from here was made in the UK and because of this the navigation system speaks to me with a British accent. Even when I don't follow her directions she stays calm and never gets angry which is why I named her Dutchess. Has anyone else out there named their car?
4. I was born in Las Vegas and weighed 7-11, which is suppose to make me very lucky. Key word here? Suppose.
5. My favorite outfit would be pair of jeans and flip flops which is my usual work attire unless it's freezing. Then it's those ugly boots around the house but never outside. You know, the Uggly ones that are so warm and cozy.
6. I come from a large family. 4 girls 1 boy. He has moved to Florida, which is about as far as you can get from California without dropping off into the ocean. I try not to think our estrogen overload drove him there. But all the girls live in Cali and close by.
7. Whew, finally. I adore frozen yogurt from this place. I could eat it every day. Sometimes it makes me so cold just eating it that I have to take a hot bath. Even my finger nails turn blue. Will I stop? Doubt it, too yummy!
Thanks for making it through this list. I believe I should tag others but because it was difficult for me I'll let you decide if you'd like to play along. Even though I don't like making my list I love reading others!

That is funny about your suv. We have a land rover... but he is a man! His name is Miles... the kids came up with it... I think it's pretty clever!
I have often wondered if I could change the navigation over to make him into a her... i wanted to call her Ingrid!
All about Tivo too... commercials are sweet valuable time!

Golden Spoon?! Never heard of it...but I think I'll Google it now and pray there's one near me. I hope it's not just a CA thing....
I enjoyed your random facts, Heather!

ha ha ha, my favorite movie is Nanny McPhee with Emma Thompson. I swear my nav system (i have a mini) sounds just like her. So I call mine "Nanny". She uses the term "sharply" a lot.

I order the same drink, but in the dork way. I still don't have the Starbucks lingo down.
I drove a big Astro van for years to haul furniture in and called it Rastro, like the dog on the Jetsons. Now I drive a Brave Little Toaster (your name for it stuck tight!)

Hi!! I do believe I've purchased from you before!! Love your blog and yes, I've named my vehicle. Its a Hummer H2 and I've named it Lil' Chromeo because I've decked it out in LOTS of chrome bling (girls just gotta have fun!) -- I look at it like putting jewelry on the car!
Love the idea of being tagged, too!!

Hi Heather,
We would get along so well. I love Tivo, couldn't live without it. I am a Golden Spoon addict!! I love the stuff. We went there one night when it was sooo cold out. I thought it would be empty. WRONG, the line was out the door.
I loved your list.
Have a nice night,
Rosemary

Oh I love the name of your SUV - and that it speaks to you in a British Accent. LOVE that! How fun! I would start saying "Bugger" and "Give us a Snog" back to it.
It was nice to read more about you - and don't worry about the Starbucks thing - it took me a year to pronounce Breve` here in Oregon - because of my Texas accent, It came out as "breeva" instead of "brayvay`" and how funny that I still have that Texas Drawl when I say it. They just give me "the look" and then ask "a What?"
What a great post! xoxo Sher

At my house we usually give our cars the same name as the guy we bought them from. But now I have a Trooper and I named him Cooper just because it's fun to say. Cooper the Trooper.

I went on a road trip with some friends a couple years ago from Omaha, NE to SLC. One of the girls had a navigation system she purchased while living in England. The lady spoke with an English accent, her name was Madge.

what a wonderful list of randomness. the only car i ever named was the one i had in high school. it was a 66 dodge something or other. we called it the "donut dodge" because in the winter we would take it out in the snow and do donuts. it was pretty beat up, so if i would have banged it up more, my parents would have never known.

It's always fun to learn a few little tid-bits behind the creator of so many beautiful things.

Loving your pictures and feeling your pain! Only yesterday discovered the large stack of vintage valentines I'd been hoarding ... hoping your treasures will appear soon! Barbara

i have an old blue '70 mustang that i drove in college. and on the back where "mustang" is spelled out the "s" and the "t" are missing. so the car became known as the boo mu-ang.

Thanks for sharing more about yourself by playing the tag game.
I am forever talking back to our GPS navigation system and telling it to be quiet.

We rented a car on our last trip to the Blue Ridge mountains of GA. I named the rent car Bertha the Blue Beast. Our cabin was up a gravel road that was pretty steep and we really had to yell out a lot of encouragement to Bertha to get her to the top. She'd go a little ways and then start spiting rocks everywhere and sliding backwards and I would coax her a little more till we would finally make it to the cabin. Bertha was not only a little retarded on the slopes but she was real ugly to boot! and to think we had to pay good money to rent her! ha ha

hehehe aren't we glad Starbucks decided to go the "skinny" route. Soo much easier. However I thow in the decaf to the Skinny Mocha latte. Ditto on naming the GPS. How did we get along without them before? Mine is called "Gypsy" Not much of a TV watcher either and TIVO is what I've asked of My Valentine. Tech toys count as romantic don't they???

I have named all my cars. My current car is named Betty Americas for the show and actress of Ugly Betty. It is a huge gas guzzelling American SUV which is awful and very non-eco friendly and very un-cool but it is a utilitarian car for this phase of my life and budget! I also come from a big family and love having most of them close by! Thanks again for including my little party horns in your photo collage! Happy Weekend!

**little chuckle**, I used to own an espresso shop and believe me I have heard many different kinds of orders, it's okay, baristas get it no matter how you say it. Never feel like a dork ordering drinks!

I wonder if we have Tivo up here in Canada. It sounds like the perfect thing for me. I hate sitting and letting the TV do its thing. I want to see what I want, and be done with it.
I always give my car a "Car" name. In the past I've had Carmella, Carmen, Carma and I can't remember two of them. I haven't picked a name for my present car yet...maybe Caren or Carl?
I've never tried that frozen yogurt, but I remember that when fy first came out, it seemed to be better quality than most of the ones out there today. GS has live cultures, so it probably tastes like it's supposed to :)
