Let's Flea!
Sunday morning was spent browsing the flea market for a few hours. Would you like to come along with me? Let's go!
This vendor had some spectacular hand painted pieces. Aren't they just lovely?
There were tables and tables full of vintage kitchen textiles. I love buying these for my garden tables because the colors are so cheerful.
I saw a lot of religious santos and other artifacts from France. This vendor imports containers full of great finds. Notice all the red SOLD tags? His things were selling like hot cakes!
And there was plenty of silver to be had. It's always good to look through them because you never know when you might find your initials engraved on a piece or two.
So Heather, what'd ya get? Well, since you asked.......
Sometimes it's better to buy the entire hat just for the millinery flowers.
Here's a silver plated handled basket, rhinestone buttons, a beaded coin purse, a vanity jar and a box of mother of pearl buttons and buckles.
Wallpaper, vintage linens and the most fabulous ribbon of all time! It's about 6" wide and a gorgeous pale mint color. I can't wait to use it on Easter baskets!
I bought quite a few children and baby cabinet photos and French calling card ephemera. Oh, and the creamy white ironstone bowl and floral platter underneath all this stuff.
I also picked up a cute pink sewing basket and a giant wicker basket full of wooden spools. Kind of interesting for a gal who doesn't sew.
There is hardly a wooden garden tote or tool box that I pass up. And the small pots were from the French dealer, I think I should give him a call and buy the rest. I'm in my gardening mode you know.
Ok gals, that's it for today. Thanks for coming along with me! Some of these goodies will end up on the website, some are going to the Barn Sale that starts next Friday and some are staying home with me. Now, I just need to decide how I'm going to divide all this up!
This week I'll be setting up my spot at the barn and if you've never been able to make it before....this is the month! I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm bringing out more items than ever before and the Present Past Collection space will be stuffed to the brim with all kind of new treasures! I promise to post some previews this week. The event starts Friday the 22nd through the 24th. Hope to see you there!

OMG!! How lucky you are to be able to go to such wonderful flea markets. The pictures just make me drool with envy. We don't have anything like that here and I am so jealous that you can just stroll up to such a wonderful array of gorgeous goodies on a regular basis. Do you know how lucky you are??

I haven't been to the LB or Rose Bowl in years - I know they can be outrageous in price, which is why I haven't been...but, I love looking. I've been wanting a sewing basket like that pink wicker, but haven't found an affordable one. I did luck out big time last week in a thrift store & found a pink floral metal trash can similar to the yellow one you have pictured. I was shocked something like this was in there - they tend to keep the antiquey stuff in back for their big antique sales. Anyway, it even matches the kleenex holder I got a few years ago at the Rose Bowl (it stinks that the seller didn't tell me it was missing the metal back to hold the tissues in or can be hung on the wall when I was asking about it, so it's just been decorative.)
Boy, am I wordy...must be all that hyped-upness from a kiddie birthday party tonight. :)

oh these pictures just make my heart ache!
when we lived in ILLinois we had a big flea market the first weekend of the month...all year round...rain or shine. and i went at least 10 times a year. just yesterday i told my husband how much i was seriously missing it. it's been 3 years!!! do you think you would die if you had to wait 3 years for a flea market?
i might.
i miss it so much. so much inspiration just by being there!

I just love the flea markets you have "over there". It's not the same here. Maybe as we don't have the same things for sale?!?!
Hope you have a good day.

Ok, so I am officially jealous of your great finds and the opportunity to go to such a great vendor. Where I live, I haven't been able to find such a vendor. I guess I am not going to the right places.
Again I am JEALOUS.

I wish, I wish I could come to the barn!! Someday... Oh gosh, we went to the worst flea market this last weekend. It was indoor which is nice in the cold but there wasn't an old thing in sight! More like tons of Avon booths and tube socks =) I'm definitely in need of a good barn sale! Hope you do better than ever!! Blessings... Polly

I second what everyone else is saying. My local flee market looks nothing like that, just rubbish, rubbish everywhere. Yours is fantastic. I think maybe I'll start planning a trip to CA.

Heather dear, what flea market was this?
I love your photos! The things you purchased are things I would have wanted too. I adore the little french pots and the ribbon, Oh my! Gorgeous buttons and bling and the wallpaper too!
I'm thinking of coming to CA in April and going to the Alameda flea market. Do you go to that one?

Fantastic flea market. Wish we had something like that in London Tricia
Posted by: Tricia | February 18, 2008 at 09:19 AM
I can't tell if you were at the Long Beach Antique Fair, or maybe the Rose Bowl? I was at LB myself yesterday! Some of your photos looked familiar (especially those shutters), but it's all such great stuff wherever you buy it! I love your ribbon - velvet ribbon was on my list but I didn't even see a scrap of it all morning.
