She Loves Sea Shells
Back in June I shared with you the beginning of my shell collection for a summer display. While flea marketing on Sunday, I found a man selling an entire box full, which just so happened to complete my collection.
I wanted to pile them all in an antique silver punch bowl, but have not had any luck in finding one that doesn't cost a small fortune. So that search will continue. In the meantime, I layered them on a silver tray, filled apothecary jars, and spread them out across the buffet.
Here's a peek at the entire buffet. It sits in the family room under the flat screen, so please excuse the Food TV show and the window glare. For contrast I filled the largest apothecary with green apples and hung a vintage rosary on the lid.
I love walking past this everyday, it feels so summery.
On a completely different topic, yesterday, my little Bella was playing outside in the grass, rolling a basketball around like it was a solo soccer game. This is one of her favorite pastimes, anyway, she injured her left eye severely. We believe she ran into a rose bush thorn, and it's very bad. After rushing her to the vet, they tried to save her deflated eye by stitching it up, and filling it with saline. I'm very sorry to make anyone squeemish. I can't even begin to explain how extremely devastated we all are. I'm sure those of you with pets can understand. I stayed up with her all last night, took her back this morning to have them help administer some of her 6 medications and tomorrow I take her back to have the vet remove the stitches to see if the eye will be spared. Please keep my little girl in your thoughts and prayers. It's so hard for me to see her in such pain and to be honest, I can barely get through writing this. Thanks in advance for your prayers for her, I know how supportive you all are!

Heather-
I just can't stop thinking about the piece of furniture you use to hold all of you electronic equipment under your television. We are planning a flatscreen tv purchase fairly soon which I know will mean purchasing something similar to what you have and I was wondering if you could give me some info on your piece. Is it a piece that you repurposed or was it meant to be used that way? I would appreciate any information as that piece would be so at home in my house! Jen

Hang in there. I pray Bella gets better. I do have a little one eyed friend, my cat Hope. Thankfully you got your Bella to the vet in time. I wasn't so lucky but she is still alive and well and being one eyed hasn't caused her to miss a beat thankfully.
Your seashell display is beautiful!

Heather, I am so sorry about Bella. I had a dear little beagle who lost an eye while running through the bushes. We loved Digger just the same, and truly it hurts us more than them.

Heather - I simply winced as I read about poor Bella. We have 3 canine girls and shudder when any of the 3 are in pain or not "just so". I will keep Bella in my thoughts, as well as your family.
I have so been enjoying your blog and beautiful presentations and look forward to your shop opening! Your buffet is beautiful - did you paint it? I, too, have a beautiful shell collection which is displayed in the common areas of our home. Such an inspiration of purely natural beauty! Regards - Angela

Heather--I know how hard it is when something happens to your fur-baby. Such a helpless feeling. I do so hope that everything turns out well for Bella. She is such a wonderful dog (as I can see from your photos of her) and I can tell she is a very important part of your family. I have two border collies and it is so hard to see something like this happen. Good Thoughts!

I am so sorry about Bella--will be hoping the best. Our Scotty plays soccer. I may have to rethink this game, but then the dogs go charging into the bushes on general principle anyway. We had a rescue Scotty that had to have an eye amputated due to a severe infection when we adopted him. He did really well afterwards. It is many times more traumatic for us.
Your shell collection is beautiful. I've had mine out all summer and just cannot get tired of them. So fun to stop and look at them and all the details.

Oh, poor Bella! It is amazing what they can do these days for dogs' eyes. My Golden has eye issues herself. Keep us posted and I pray Bella will be okay.

Poor baby!
I love your shells. You always get the best stuff, from someone selling it all to you.
Amazing. I am not going to the same flea market as you. (Just kidding)

I have a good feeling your Bella's eye will recover! I will pray hard for her~ I had at one time...when I was a little girl a dog with sight in just one eye. It never slowed him down...if this happens, she will adjust faster than you think! I send ((hugs)) to you and sweet Bella!

We do understand, because our pets are members of our family. I will keep Bella in my prayers as well.
I had a dog that lost an eye after a bad accident where we almost lost her. And while it is definitely something you would never *want, (for her to loose an eye) you are just so glad that they are still with you, and coming out of it healthy and happy, that it becomes "normal" later.

Sorry about Belle..I do know what it's like to have an injured pet..Have sat up and held our Golden Retriever, after knee surgery, cancer surgery and a few other trips to the vets..Their pain breaks your heart..Many years ago when we had a black lab,the very day we got him our cat took a swat at him and injured his eye..Vet thought he would loose the eye,so we named him Jack(One eyed Jack-you know?)Anyway he didn't and had fine vision for 15 years.. Kept the name as he was would jump up to you.. Jumping Jack-get it? Hope this makes you smile and also know my thoughts and prayers are with you..Val

Heather- I'm so sorry about Bella! I will be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers. My mom has a basset hound that had to have an eye removed and it has been about 4 years. She is fine and has live a good life since then.
Your shells are beautiful and I love seeing how you have your tv set up as that is exactly what I had in mind for when we upgrade to a flat screen. Jen
