Spring Berries
Can't you just smell them? They are so fragrant it's intoxicating. I love, love, love strawberry season. Fortunately in California it comes early and stays late. I've been buying pint after pint and don't see any end in the near future.
I was inspired by this beautiful post by the lovely Daisy Cottage. She shared with us how delicious and beautiful the strawberries are in Central Florida and I just thought it was only fair to show the world what California strawberries are like! (Wink, wink) You know, to represent! Now in fairness, I'm sure that they are both equally delicious.
I got this beautiful porcelain berry basket some years ago. I bought it online and can't remember exactly where, it could have been eBay. It's made by Two's Company if anyone wants to research finding one. I think the creamer and sugar make it sooo adorable. I don't put cream or sugar on my berries. My favorite way is sliced up with a banana and some.....dare I say....Cool Whip. It seems almost unthinkable not to top them with real freshly whipped cream.
And if they aren't in season in your neck of the woods yet, I hope these photos will tide you over until you can get your hands on some too!

I tried some in my neck of the woods last week and they were pretty good, too. I ate them with some slices of fresh kiwi and a few small squares of a chocolate bar and it was just the right combination of fresh and sweet.

Those look sooo delicious. I'm still waiting for some good ones here in San Diego. So far they've "looked" good but taste very bland. We live on strawberries when they are in season....

We are driving up to Solvang tomorrow... I'm SO grabbing a bunch of these on the way home! I slice mine up, squeeze a lemon on them, sprinkle them with sugar and let them marinate for about 10 minutes... SO good!!! :) Love the berry basket, too! (I used to sell something similar and totally forgot about it! I'll have to find them again, seeing as California has such superior berries! hehe!!)

Ohh I'm so glad to see another person with a passion for "fresas" The word itself just screams "FRESHNESS" Perfectly paired with the white serving dish. Love strawberries and bananas with a dollup, mmm even better over a freshly made belgium waffle!! OK I've gained 5lbs..Beautiful photograph as well.

Down here in the south, we've had berries for several weeks now, so have really enjoyed them this year. Yours look equally delish & you have them displayed so artfully & pretty! Hurray for fresh strawberries!

Patience is the key word here! We will have strawberries in June or July. Your photos will suffice for now. Thank you so much for for showing me that summer really is coming, it has been a very long winter up here in the north. But hey we will hit 40 today! Hooray!

Oh, they look delicious!! Our berries won't arrive until mid-June. I love them just picked and still warm from the sun ... mmmmmm!!!

Here in Virginia we have to wait until May or early June to get in season strawberries (not those white-in-the-middle out of season ones..). So, your photos will tide me over. And, by the way, I love cool whip. I call it the tacky food that I love :)

I have to say I am a bit jealous. We still have snow melting and dreary weather. The photos of the strawberries just brightened my horizon! Spring is coming soon! Lucky you, I love strawberries!

Oh Heather you are killing me with these photos. When I lived in California we had the best strawberry farms surrounding us and they had the most delicious tasting berries. It was nothing to stop on the way home and pick up 6 quarts. Wow, I miss that. Love the photos though, brings back so many wonderful memories...
